Business Attraction Toolbox

Business Attraction Toolbox

Tourism & Event Restaurant Promotional Artifact

Augmenting the Business District.

One of my duties as business development coordinator intern for the City of Montrose was to devise a business attraction toolbox aimed at augmenting traffic through our business districts. This artifact is one example of many projects that I helped develop.

Implementing Automation & Equality

The main objective of the business attraction toolbox was to implement automated tools that business owners could utilize to participate in promotional packages. Participation in the past was typically done on an individual basis via telephone and in person. This was a waste of time and valuable resources. Furthermore, there was no guarantee that all businesses were reached.

Great Success!

To participate in this promotional package an email was sent out to every restaurant inviting them to enter their package into a secure online form. This saved business owner’s valuable time while making it easier for them to promote their business. In turn, we gained double the expected number of packages.

Michael Shull inspires people to turn strategy into measurable results by connecting vision to the work that truly matters. He believes that the best ideas come from those closest to the work and focuses on creating conditions where teams are not afraid to try new things, learn quickly, and grow. He also encourages people to challenge the status quo and rethink policies and procedures that were designed for conditions that no longer exist. His perspective on improvement was shaped early in his career in restaurants, broadened in construction, and evolved across government and nonprofit sectors, including healthcare, transportation, and tourism. Today, he leads the Continuous Improvement Program at Denver International Airport and founded The Organizational Improvement Habit in 2009 to share ideas that spark learning, inspire reflection, and drive action.
