FlawlessConsulting: A Guide to Getting Your Expertise Used

“You might as well be yourself because everyone else is taken.”

– Peter Block paraphrases Oscar Wilde

Everyone is a Consultant

A consultant doesn’t have to be a third-party practitioner working tirelessly for an organization through contract work. Peter Block notes that consultants are also the people working the front-lines inside organizations that managers should be utilizing in major decision-making events.  Consultants are the experts and are one of managers largest assets when making high-profile decisions.

Flawless Consulting is a Must Read

I highly recommend reading this book regardless of who you are and what you do. Whether you are a consultant, manager or front-line employee, if you are looking to learn how to build authentic relationships with people in order to really make a lasting impact, this book is a must read.

Thanks for the book Tina Pierce.

Michael Shull inspires people to turn strategy into measurable results by connecting vision to the work that truly matters. He believes that the best ideas come from those closest to the work and focuses on creating conditions where teams are not afraid to try new things, learn quickly, and grow. He also encourages people to challenge the status quo and rethink policies and procedures that were designed for conditions that no longer exist. His perspective on improvement was shaped early in his career in restaurants, broadened in construction, and evolved across government and nonprofit sectors, including healthcare, transportation, and tourism. Today, he leads the Continuous Improvement Program at Denver International Airport and founded The Organizational Improvement Habit in 2009 to share ideas that spark learning, inspire reflection, and drive action.
